Career Counselling Program

Step 1 – Online Career Assessment

In this program, we start by assessing your interests, values and personality to identify potential career paths for you to consider. The career assessment includes:

a) Career Interests Profiler

The Career Interests Profiler assesses your interest in a variety of activities, industries and occupations to identify potential career paths and areas of study. It is designed to help you discover the type of work you are most likely to enjoy. Duration: Approx 20 minutes

See a sample report

b) Career Personality Profiler

The Career Personality Profiler is based on the theory of psychological types described by Swiss psychiatrist C.G Jung and Isabel Myers. It assesses four aspects of your personality based on the following scales: Informer-Reflector, Producer-Creator, Analyser-Helper and Planner-Adapter. Duration: Approx 10 minutes

See a sample report

Step 2 – Career Consultation

Once you have taken the career assessment online, your Career Coach will prepare detailed information for you on your career options. At your consultation, they will go through your results and give you advice on your career, course and employment options.

During your consultation, you will:

  • Discover the careers that best suit your interests, values and personality
  • Explore your career options and get help identifying the career that best suits you
  • Learn about your course options at TAFE, college and/or university
  • Get advice on any careers and courses you are currently considering
  • Get feedback on your resume and advice on how to tailor it for different positions
  • Develop an action plan to help you on your path to a fulfilling career.

This program is suitable for high school students, graduates and people who are working in non-management roles up to the mid-level tier. If you are working in a senior role, management role or executive position, please see our Executive Career Coaching Program.

Testimonials / Reviews

"I have been involved in a very draining job. I always had a vision in my head, however, I had no idea how to get there. With a demanding job and long hours, I could not do much research. I needed help and was referred to Katie Roberts' site. I got in contact with Debbie who was very helpful and provided great customer service. I was then referred to a Career Counsellor (Ellen) who listened to me and absolutely helped me by writing a career plan to reach my goal with options that I did not even know existed!"

Muna, Sydney

Hi Katie,

I wanted to take the opportunity to give you some feedback on Suzie. We had a phone consultation on Saturday and I must say she was an absolute delight. She had a warming personality, met me in my world, listened to my perspective and offered well reasoned and researched advice. She was encouraging, specific, professional and polished. The call exceeded my expectations in terms of outcomes, particularly in regard to university options. I also liked the different approach to MBTI with the values piece and the list of tasks and careers that suit my personality type. It served to reinforce that I am in the right job and gave me insight into why that is. Suzie is a great ambassador for your brand and I would have no hesitation to recommend her to others in our organisation. I am very pleased that I utilised your service and happy with the results.

Kerrie, Sydney

Hi Drew,

I just wanted to give you an update as I have some news. After such a great session with you (and not being one to sit back and wait for things to happen) I immediately applied for a great job and I have been successful! Next step is applying for uni so all in all its been amazing! I really can't thank you enough.

Carly, Sydney

Dear Debbie,

I have just had my careers counselling session with Ellen and I have to say I cannot be more pleased and happy. The time before contacting your company has both been a very stressful and confusing time for me. However, your services did not disappoint! Ellen was simply amazing, and I was blown away at the accuracy of the results for the online assessments. I am now confident that I will be making the right choices for me and will ensure that if I need further guidance down the track, I will not hesitate in returning for another consultation in a few years time with Ellen. A big thanks also to you for answering my many enquiries, you certainly helped me feel at ease. Greatly appreciate everything, and am recommending your services to the many stressed friends and family members of mine who too need a bit of direction.

Sylvana, Sydney

Hi Amber,

I found yesterday's session with you so helpful. Prior to the appointment with you, I wasn't sure what to expect and what, if anything, I would get out of it. As the session went on I felt more and more relaxed and found myself being more honest with you and myself than I have been for a long time. I believe that this was due to your well placed questions and your warm, mentoring, professional approach. I feel like I found my mojo yesterday and I have a very clear idea of where to focus my energy on my future career and I know exactly what I want to do. I know that this is a process, but you have helped me figure out what I want and given me a clear direction for the future. I feel motivated, focused and energised. I can't thank you enough and I will let you know at the end of my journey what has happened.

Sandy, Sydney

Dear Ellen,

Thank you so much for meeting with me and for going through my career options. It was such an absolute pleasure to meet with you and to discuss my career to date. With your help, my eyes were definitely open to new possibilities and to new careers I could hardly imagine for myself! After amending my CV and cover letter, and really putting in extra effort when applying, I successfully gained an interview (funnily enough, it was with the very first organisation that you handed to me at our session!). I received very happy news yesterday that I have the job! I'm so excited and thankful for the opportunity, and it all came about through meeting with you. Thank you so much for what you have done for me, and I'm very happy to share this wonderful news with you!

Daisy, Sydney

"My son Will is a highly motivated Year 12 student who had no idea of what he wanted to do after school. After completing an online career assessment and discussion with Helene, she was able to match his interests and passions with jobs. She gave him great career advice on various courses and pathways. Will found the session very helpful and is now even more focused as he knows exactly why he is working so hard!"

Kerry, Sydney

Hi Drew,

I would like to say thank you for your time last week. I left your session feeling very empowered and clear with the direction I wish to take my career. You have given me a lot to think about and should the opportunity to move into Learning and Development present itself in the future, it is definitely something I will consider. Thank you again for everything.

Cleo, Sydney

Hi Drew,

I just wanted to send you my sincere thank you! I have just received a verbal offer for X position and I'm not sure that I could have been successful without your help! I have been offered a lot more money as well which I feel is more reflective of my skill set. I am so happy with this news and without your guidance I don't think I would have been successful. Thank you!

Kathryn, Sydney

What’s holding you back from further study?

Many people we talk to are at a crossroads in their working life. They’ve gone as far as they can, or they’re simply bored with the path they are on. Some have decided that postgraduate study would help them to climb the corporate ladder, but just don’t have the time or money to pursue it. No matter what’s stopping you, there are ways forward if you’re committed. Most research done on the subject confirms that making the decision to study later in life not only helps reinvigorate your career, but your life as well. While further study might be necessary to achieve a desired career transition or next step, it can also help boost your career in other ways by improving your problem solving skills, inspiring the creative side of your brain, and developing your ability to think innovatively. So what’s holding you back?

4 tips to decide if a sea/tree change is right for you

While these types of changes used to mostly apply to retirees selling up and moving to a coastal or rural area to retire, these days more people are choosing to escape the big city rat race by changing their lifestyles to achieve less stress and better work life balance. But this kind of major life change isn’t for everyone, so how do you work out if it’s right for you? Over the Christmas break, up and down the coast of Australia, people will be gazing into the windows of real estate agencies, checking out property prices in their sleepy holiday destination. I know because I’ve done it before and stood next to others doing the same! We were having such a wonderful time in a coastal area on the northern NSW coast, and wondered how we could make it work as a place to live full time. We did do some research and seriously considered the move, but once those holiday endorphins wore off and we came back to reality, we never actually followed through for several different reasons. But many people will take up the chance to cash in on big city property prices and downsize their lives to achieve a better work life balance.
