Career Counselling & Career Coaching Program

Step 1 – Online Career Assessment

In this program, we start by assessing your interests, values and personality to identify the careers, industries and work environment that best suit you. The career assessment includes:

a) Career Interests Profiler

The Career Interests Profiler assesses your interest in a variety of activities, industries and occupations to determine the careers and areas of study you are most likely to enjoy. It contains an extensive database of more than 500 careers and courses. Duration: Approx 20 minutes

See a sample report

b) Career Personality Profiler

The Career Personality Profiler is based on the theory of psychological types described by Swiss psychiatrist C.G Jung and Isabel Myers. It assesses four aspects of your personality based on the following scales: Informer-Reflector, Producer-Creator, Analyser-Helper and Planner-Adapter. Duration: Approx 10 minutes

See a sample report

Step 2 – Career Consultation

Once you have taken the career assessment online, your Career Coach will prepare detailed information for you on your career options. At your consultation, they will go through your results and give you advice on your career, course and employment options.

During your consultation, you will:

  • Discover the careers that best suit your interests, values and personality
  • Explore your career options and get help identifying the career that best suits you
  • Learn about your course options at TAFE, college and/or university
  • Get advice on any careers and courses you are currently considering
  • Get feedback on your resume and advice on how to tailor it for different positions
  • Develop an action plan to help you on your path to a fulfilling career.

Testimonials

Jane,

I had a career consultation with you in April and just wanted to thank you for all your help and advice. I have a fairly diverse background so I can imagine how that would have presented you with a unique challenge. In addition, I always knew I had a keen interest in people and trying to understand what motivates people. I found your session particularly useful as you really helped me understand how my values linked with the potential right jobs for me and subsequently encouraged me to apply for a role that I would never have thought of applying for before. As a result of going through the application process, my profile within my existing company has been lifted significantly. Thank you so much! I would not hesitate in recommending you to anyone who wants a career consultation.

Kellie, Brisbane

"My daughter, Maddie, was feeling particularly lost not knowing what the future held for her after Year 12. This is when I thought that she could benefit from a career coach. Cat took us through the results of the questionnaire, which to my surprise were extremely accurate. It was wonderful for Maddie to see on paper what her personality and value system is. It was also relieving for Maddie to see what jobs she was suited to. It gave her confidence and knowledge to realise that she should follow a study path that reflected who she is. Cat didn't push university or TAFE or any particular avenue, but rather gave us all the options. This was an incredible relief for Maddie as her school was pushing university and she was feeling very stressed that this was her only option. I have a much happier daughter who is feeling relieved that she now has a plan and some structure for the future."

Jen, Canberra

"As a 40-something mid-career executive, I found myself seeking new career opportunities but in somewhat of a career rut. Seeking professional guidance, I was very fortunate to find Judith to assist me with career counselling and planning. Judith took the time to listen and was able to fully understand the bigger picture issues in my current employment arrangements, where my skills and interests lay and what possible options could provide me with more fitting and fulfilling employment. Most importantly we were able to plan out a transition pathway which was sensitive to my present needs yet progressive and reassuring about the future opportunities. I cannot speak highly enough of Judith’s comprehensive capability and recommend her without hesitation."

Karl, Brisbane

Hi Ellen,

I just wanted to write and say thanks for our session yesterday. I was really inspired and it was really helpful to talk through everything with you! The process we went through made everything seem simple and clear-cut. In hindsight, looking at all the job advertisements for jobs that I didn’t want to do, was great. The process really highlighted my areas of interest very clearly. I’m looking forward to starting on my action plan!

T Bawden-Smith, Sydney

"After 15 years in the workforce, and working in a variety of jobs in this time, I was unsure about what career direction I wanted to follow. Other than talking to close family and friends, I felt the need to seek some independent advice. That is when I found the Katie Roberts Career Consulting website where I was referred to Jackie Marsterson. The process commenced by completing a career interest and personality profiler online. After meeting with Jackie I was taken aback by the accuracy of the results and gained a lot of valuable information from in-depth discussions in relation to these results. I found the information and resources Jackie provided me with to be very helpful and have been referring back to the resources quite regularly. As a result of attending the consultation and meeting with Jackie, it has encouraged me to pursue further study, and I have actually enrolled to commence tertiary studies again this year. I have also been impressed by the after consultation service Jackie has provided me with on resume and cover letter writing. Overall I believe it was a wise decision to gain independent advice in this area and thank Jackie for her assistance."

M Smitten, Melbourne

Dear Suzie

Thanks SO much. It's spooky that the tests and your guidance were so spot on and really reinforced what was lurking in the back of Andrew's mind (and ours) - fantastic! Very much appreciated as he can now tackle the year ahead with focus rather than wasting time and energy worrying about his direction.

Lynn and Andrew, Sydney

Karen,

Wow what a fantastic email to receive! Thank you so much for that. You have helped me tremendously. My husband mentioned this morning that I seemed much "lighter" in myself and I do feel like the fog has cleared.

Kaley, Brisbane

Hi Helen,

Thanks so much for all the information and career guidance. It was exactly what I needed. I'm so impressed with the results. I'm going to pass on your details to my friend who is in the same position that I was.

Levi, Perth

Hi Catriona,

Just short note to let you know how I am going following our career coaching session. I’ve implemented our career transition plan with my Manager and the HR team at work. I requested, was offered and took a VR and have been progressing a business plan to become an Executive coach since. After 20 years in the APS I am no longer a public servant and have been attending various information evenings with colleges around Australia on the best type of training to help me establish my own Canberra-based business. It’s all very exciting and just thought you would like to know what I did with your advice – I took it and can’t thank you enough.

Anita, Canberra

Hi Katie

I'd just like to express my thanks to Drew Clark who in one meeting appears to have turned my son's life around. To have this ability I believe takes very special qualities and Drew lives up to his profile of "intuitive expertise" and "skill and rapport with people". Drew has been able to motivate our son beyond anything we have seen since he left school. Our son has been floundering in connection with job commitment ever since he left school (he will be 30 this year) and when he approached us to support him in visiting one of your staff, we were somewhat loath to do so. We hope that in the future we will have the opportunity of recommending Drew.

Lynne, Sydney

"I found my consultation with Jackie an extremely positive and enlightening experience. Being from a creative background, I initially assumed that career counselling was only for those in a mainstream corporate environment but found Jackie understood and encouraged those wishing to take a path less travelled."

Client, Melbourne

Karen,

It was really nice to meet you last week, I really appreciated the detailed follow up email you sent me. Thank you for your time, it has helped me clarify so many things in my mind and given me a strong direction to head in. Thanks again for all your help.

Nicola, Brisbane

Hi Catriona,

I just wanted to let you know that I did decide on a new career path. I decided to study a Diploma in Fitness so that I hopefully can eventually work with at risk clients as a Personal Trainer. So far I'm really enjoying the course and I even feel much happier about work because I have another focus. It's also helping to keep me fit and healthy which is a huge bonus. Thanks so much for your help. I hope you don't mind but I have recommended you to a couple of friends in a similar situation.

Annika, Canberra

“I am a recent graduate, currently working full time in the corporate world. After working for past 9 months, I felt a deep sense of dissatisfaction with my job. It was then that I decided to see Suzie for career counselling. I found the first session immensely resourceful! From the psychometric and personality tests, I was able to gain a greater understanding of the jobs that were suited towards my personality. After the session, I felt a greater sense of direction for my career and I am now on my way to becoming a primary school teacher. Thank you so much!!!”

J.Lee, Sydney

Hi Suzie

Guess what? I did an HTML course at the community college as you suggested, put a mission statement on my CV and applied for some junior web positions. Within a week I was offered a position as a media/web assistant. The company will offer training and resources for me to train in my spare time. I couldn't have done it without you. The career test and consultation really helped to clarify things for me.

Stephanie, Sydney

Dear Jane

I am writing to say thank you so much for your help with my son. He had an idea as to what he liked but struggled to know what to do. Seeing you has helped him so much. He has been accepted into a Bachelor of Exercise and Health Science. He is very comfortable and settled in his thinking - it is so nice to see. I am so glad I met you and you were able to guide him in the right direction. As a mother, I am so relieved and enjoy seeing my son happy and content with his goals and achievements. Thank you so much.

Christine, Brisbane

Hi,

I had an appointment with Diana last Friday and I feel I need to let you know how beneficial the session was for me. Some positives that I took from it were:

- Figuring out the careers that are suited to my personality based on the tests
- Having a clearer idea as to how to find the career that I want to pursue
- Gaining all the things I need to make an educated choice on my future
- Having a genuinely good time and good conversation at the same time as all this.

I honestly tried thinking of something she could've done better, but I have nothing. Diana was very easy to get along with and made feel at ease from the get go. We had a great chat, many laughs and most importantly had a very beneficial chat about helping me find the right the right career for my future. I'm much more confident I will find where to start now that I have met Diana. Thank you

Robbie, Melbourne

Hi Judith

Thanks very much for your time and input it was very much appreciated. Both Jasmine and Nathan found this very helpful and it has enabled them to get better clarification around their future study and career choices. As a family we really appreciate the work you have done. Personally I think every child should do it to assist them with these very important choices.
